Stewards

Bishop Godfrey Mullen, OSB, shares his vision for discipleship which he calls: Stewards of God’s Gifts: Building the Kingdom of God in the Diocese of Belleville.

In 2024, Archbishop McGovern released his Pastoral Plan of 2024. You can click here for the plan.

This plan identified four priorities for the Diocese:

• Youth and Young Adults
• Family Life
• Faith Formation
• Revitalizing Parish Life and Ministry: Growing God’s Family

On May 24, 2026, Bishop Mullen released his vision which builds on Archbishop McGovern’s Pastoral Plan of 2024. You can click here to read the contents directly from the Diocese of Belleville website.

During October, 2026, Bishop Mullen visited clusters of parishes throughout the diocese to explain his vision. St. Mary parishioners attended the session held on October 30 at St. Augustine of Canterbury, Hecker. You can view a handout from that session here.

During the session, Bishop Mullen explained his vision for discipleship in the Diocese, which uses the four pillars of:

• Hospitality
• Prayer
• Formation
• Service

Bishop Mullen believes strengthening these four pillars will revitalize parishes, especially in the areas of Youth and Young Adults, Family Life, and Faith Formation.

Bishop Mullen also referred to the document “Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response” prepared by the Diocese of Rochester for the USCCB (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops), which can be viewed here.
